LINES OF THE DAY

". . . But the past does not exist independently from the present. Indeed, the past is only past because there is a present, just as I can point to something over there only because I am here. But nothing is inherently over there or here. In that sense, the past has no content. The past -- or more accurately, pastness -- is a position. Thus, in no way can we identify the past as past." p. 15

". . . But we may want to keep in mind that deeds and words are not as distinguishable as often we presume. History does not belong only to its narrators, professional or amateur. While some of us debate what history is or was, others take it into their own hands." p. 153

The Only Thing I Have To Say About Michael Jackson

Or even want to:

One of my amigas had the contract for designing and creating the costumes for the extravaganza series of show scheduled to open soon London.

Will she get paid?

If she doesn't, she may lose her house.

Collateral Damage from diet drugs ain't so collateral.

With any luck one of the family members will take his place and call it a memorial tour. Your friend will get her gig and his kids will have money to live.

I must say, I do not understand Michael Jackson. I do feel sorry for his kids on many levels.

Since at least "Thriller" I've had friends who have gotten burned from working on mj projects.

I guess this will be the last one it happens to.

There is lots of talk that the insurance companies in London are going to have to pay out for everything from guarantees to stage set designers and crafters, to advance ticket sales reimbursement -- as almost all the shows were already sold out, that enormous numbers.

But I'm not seeing anything about how re-imbursement for anyone working here in the U.S.

Love, c.
