9/11/01 -- My Neighborhood -- 1/3 Mile North of the Towers

  1. Oh, Foxessa. Startling, true, and a reminder to be thankful for every single minute.

I recall after the death of my first husband, when we were walking into the funeral home for a visitation, his dad said, "Well, I just got through another minute."

Sometimes that's all we can do.

    Thank you.

  2. When I saw that graffito, That Day, I knew why I had my camera with me.

As you can see the quality of the light was magnificent where the smoke was not. It was like that all fall. Above and north brilliant autumn blue sky. South, roiling, boiling, toxic smoke.

When we came back December 23 from Havana, the site was still burning.

    Love, C.
